RO Russian Orthodox church: polygamy is violation of the divine law

RO Russian Orthodox church opposed an initiative of muftis to enter polygamy in Muslim regions Russian Federation. According to the head of Synod department of external church relations Illarion's Grigory Alfeev, similar practice breaks the laws established by god. He emphasized that RO Russian Orthodox church insists on uniqueness of the marriage union. The marriage union — is the union between one man and one woman, the union created on love for the purpose of the birth and education of children — the metropolitan declared.
