To Russian Federation Suburban became the first specialized port for reception and service of the vessels transporting the liquefied natural gas (LNG) in bulk, and also large-capacity oil tankers.

Operational management of object since 2008 carries out JSC "Port Prigorodnoe" ‒ the joint venture founded by companies by Sakhalin Energy Investment Co. Ltd. and PUBLIC JOINT-STOCK COMPANY "SOVKOMFLOT" on a parity basis. Port administration ‒ state budgetary institution branch "FEDERAL STATE-FINANCED INSTITUTION "SMALL BUSINESSES ASSOCIATION SAKHALINA, KURIL I KAMCHATKI", Kuriles and Kamchatka Territory".

the Seaport was specially constructed by company Sakhalin Energy Investment Co. Ltd. for shipment of LNG and Sakhalin-II project oil. In ten years of functioning it ensured mooring and shipment more than 1600 gas carriers and more than 560 oil tankers.

B 2017 the main countries buyers of the liquefied natural gas were Japan, South Korea, Province of Taiwan, China. LNG of the Sakhalin-II project was delivered to more than 40 reception terminals. The smallest gas carrier which accepts freight in the Suburban port, Surya Aki, takes aboard a little more than 19 thousand. m ³ the liquefied natural gas. At the same time, the biggest Grace Dahlia gas carrier which has visited the Suburban port, has tonnage of nearly 174,8 thousand m3.

the Sakhalin oil of a grade of Sakhalin Blend is delivered generally to China, Japan, South Korea. However there were cases of deliveries to such countries, as India and United States of America.

One of advantages of the Sakhalin-II project ‒ is proximity to the key markets of Asian and Pacific Rim. The short transport shoulder gives the chance of flexibility in deliveries, and also operational advantage. For example, today the most remote reception terminals for supply of LNG are terminals Province of Taiwan (distance about 2000 nautical miles from the Suburban port or five days of traveling for project vessels). The shortest transport shoulder – Prigorodnoye-Ishikari port (Japan). Prefecture of Hokkaido it is possible to deliver LNG freight to the island in only 17 hours, having overcome about 280 nautical miles.

For deliveries oil to the port Quanzhou (China) is required to

more than five days (distance of 1800 nautical miles), and (South Korea) the oil tanker will reach Yosu's port in 3,2 days.

In 2017 the share of the Sakhalin LNG in Asian and Pacific Rim made more than 9%, in the world market – about 4%.
